Owner, Primary Therapist
David Hanson
I am a Dallas native who offers clients a therapeutic and collaborative approach to navigating life crisis. My experience includes providing therapy to individuals and couples with a wide range of issues including addiction, infidelity, codependency, grief and loss, trauma, anxiety, and depression. I am a professional who values faith, family, and relationships, and believes that a feeling of connection is to be human. I also recognize the inter-relatedness in life and relationships, facilitating clients towards a holistic well-being and growth.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in marketing from University of Kentucky (C-A-T-S Cats, Cats, Cats!) a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling, and a Master of Divinity. Before launching Veritas, I spent more than ten years working for non-profit and other faith-based organizations. I also have six years’ experience working in marketing and public relations between a prominent NBA sports organization, and a business consulting firm locally in Dallas.
I enjoy spending time with my wife and two children. I am a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I also enjoy sports, playing board games, reading, and being outdoors. An interesting past time about me is that I was mascot for my university and was filmed and appeared in national CapitalOne/ESPN commercial. I also coached a AAAA men’s varsity basketball team to a Tennessee state championship in 2007.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor, Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, Certified Partner Trauma Therapist Candidate, and a trauma therapist. I am trained and use a multitude of therapeutic approaches including EMDR, attachment theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Somatic Experience (SE). Please feel free to contact me directly at (214) 302-5572 or by email me David@embraceveritas.com if you have any questions.
Donovan Kelly
Primary Therapist
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in Texas (Supervised by David Hanson, LPC-S), specializing in helping individuals—especially men—navigate addiction, depression, anger, and mood instability. I believe counseling is for anyone seeking meaningful improvement in their quality of life, greater self-mastery, and stronger mental and emotional health.
I work with children, adolescents, and adults, and I welcome individuals and couples. In our work together, you will have a space to process both past and present challenges, while also developing a clear vision for your life. My goal is not only to help you understand your struggles, but to equip you with the tools needed to move forward and become the person you are called to be. For those who desire it, I am also comfortable integrating faith into the therapeutic process.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English and Economics from the University of Dallas, a Master of Education from the University of Notre Dame, and a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Amberton University. Prior to becoming a counselor, I spent five years teaching in underserved Catholic schools and another five years tutoring and managing an SAT/ACT tutoring company. I also taught English in Spain for two summers and am fluent in Spanish.
Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending time with my wife and four children. In my free time, I enjoy basketball, reading, biking, hiking, and camping in state and national parks—Big Bend National Park being a favorite.
I am an Associate Sex Addiction Therapist (ASAT) candidate and am trained in trauma-informed approaches including EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). If you have questions or are considering beginning therapy, I invite you to reach out to me directly at (214) 302-5572 or by email me, Donovan@embraceveritas.com.
